Still struggling

By Dutsji | July 3, 2008

This morning I was once again struggling to find the motivation to go to the gym, but I have developed a mantra in my head for when this happens: “You are going, you are going, you are going”. I repeat this over and over until I actually get out of bed and am ready to go to the gym.  I also keep telling myself that I will feel so much better after the work out and it’s true. As soon as I hit the gym I like to keep going. A lot of times my headache even disappears when I exercise and it does wonders for my mood. So why is it so hard to find the motivation?

Sometimes I ask myself how badly do you want to feel happy with your body? Well, the answer is that I want it really badly. If I want it so badly, why do I find it so difficult to stay motivated and keep going? I don’t really have an answer for it. I am sure that almost every overweight person would like to lose weight really badly, yet they find it really hard to stick to a lifestyle change that will make that happen. For now I am just forcing myself to do the things that are necessary to lose the weight, because I really do want it.

Exercise today

  • 30 min. Bike - Hill program - level 7 - 90/100 rpm
  • 45 min. Treadmill - 5.6 km/h - 5% incline
  • 3x 25 crunches

Instead of forcing yourself into going to the gym, ask “How can I exercise and really enjoy it?”

Now you are no longer limited to your gym!

You can try yoga, pilates, go for a swim, hike, try russian kettlebell training, sand bag training, biking, walking, rock climbing… anything that you enjoy.

Enjoyment and fun is the key. Make it supah-fun-tastic.

    good luck!

hi there, if you really want it badly enough, you will find the motivation. Anyway, are you doing the correct stuffs? You really don’t have to exercise for long periods of time.

@ Denis, I do enjoy going to the gym. It’s just finding the motivation to go. As soon as I start exercising in the gym I’m having fun with it.
