Exercise 21-04-2008

By Dutsji | April 21, 2008

Hooray!!! I finally went back to the gym today. My neck was feeling not too bad this morning, so I immediately jumped out of bed, had a quick breakfast and got to the gym as fast as I could (without breaking any speed limits). It feels great to be able to exercise although I have to admit, that afterwards my neck did not feel so good, but who cares? I got the rest of the day to recover.

Not exercising regularly and taking anti-biotics does not exactly help with maintaining your fitness level. After only a couple of minutes on the cross trainer I was puffing and I could hear my lunges start to squeal. My fitness levels might have dropped tremendously, but my mind is much stronger now so I was able to push through it. I’ve only done an hour of cardio, but hopefully tomorrow I can do resistance training again.

Cardio

  • 15 min. Cross trainer - level 3 - 13 km/h
  • 30 min. Bike riding - level 6 - 85/95 rpm
  • 15 min. Treadmill - 5.6 km/h - incline 5%

Fast Food Nation

By Dutsji | April 18, 2008

Fast Food NationNot long ago I watched the movie “Fast Food Nation“. If you want a cure for your fast food addiction, you might want to watch that movie too. I don’t think I will ever set a foot in Mc Donalds again or any other chain fast food restaurant for that matter.

This movie made me feel sick and if I could I would have stuck a finger in my throat to throw up every freaking junk food meal I have ever have.

Plot summary:

Don Anderson is the Mickey’s food restaurant chain’s Marketing Director. He is the inventor of the “Big One” the hamburger best seller of Mickey’s. An independent research reports the presence of cow’s feces in the Big One. So Don is sent to Cody, Colorado, to verify if the slaughterhouse, main supplier of Mickey’s, is efficient as it appears and the production process is regular. During his investigations he discovers the horrible truth behind a simple hamburger; the reality is not like we think it is. Don discovers that the mass production system involves from the temp workers like Amber, to the exploitation of Mexican irregular immigrants. It is not only the meat that is crush in the mincing machine, but all our society.

I don’t think that it is that extreme here in Australia, but after seeing that movie I am completely cured from wanting to go to McDonalds, KFC or Hungry Jacks. The only fast food restaurant I’ll ever set foot in will be Subway.

Heart Library

By Dutsji | April 18, 2008

When I go to the gym I see a fair few people there who have to exercise in order to avoid or help with their heart problems. A healthy heart is so important and I hope that I will never have to experience what it is like to have a heart condition.

If you have heart problems or you know someone who does, you might want to have a look at a website I just found. The website is called Heart Library and can be found at heartlibrary.com. Not only do they give you information about the heart; real doctors along with St. Jude Medical have created a series of video’s to provide you with extra information.

Whether you would like to know a bit more about Heart Anatomy, Slow Heart Rate, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Ventricular Fibrillation, Sick Sinus Syndrome or anything else that is related to the health of your heart; this site can give you all the answers to your questions about heart related problems.
