8 Week Challenge Day 42 & 43

By Dutsji | March 17, 2008

I never thought I would say it, but Yeah… I am overweight!!!! Today my BMI finally dived under the 30. I weighed in at 79.6 kilogram. So I went from obese to overweight. It’s still way too high, but it certainly is a big improvement since I started to deal with my weight problem. My next goal is to get to 75 kilogram.

Sunday I had the day off although I didn’t think I ‘deserved’ a day off. Today however I was pulling my weight again in the gym with a personal training session. Before and after and the PT session I did some extra cardio and weights.

Cardio

  • 20 min. Cross trainer - level 6 - 13/14 km/h
  • 15 min. Bike riding - level 8 - 90/95 rpm
  • 10 min. Treadmill - 5.6 km/h - 2.5 incline
  • 5 min. Interval spinning - hardcore intensity

Resistance

  • Drop sets Leg press - max. 170 kg
  • Drop sets Chest press - max. 40 kg
  • Drop sets Seated row - max. 35 kg
  • 3x 10 reps Leg press - feet together - 80 kg
  • 2x 15 reps Hip abduction - 50 kg
  • 2x 15 reps Bicep curl - 6 kg
  • 3x 10 reps Squats with ball

8 Week Challenge - Day 41

By Dutsji | March 15, 2008

Yes, today I was finally back in the gym. It made me feel so good to jump on the cross trainer again and being able to lift some weights. Unfortunately it was at the end of the day and I couldn’t do more cardio because the gym was closing.

I could finally weigh myself. The good news is that I am finally under the 80 kilo mark, bad thing is that I’ve only lost 0.2 kilo. I weigh 79.8 kilo now. I was hoping that I would have lost more, but I didn’t put in as much work this week as I usually would have and I slightly indulged in ice cream.

Cardio

  • 25 min. Cross trainer - level 6 - 13/14 km/h
  • 25 min. Bike - level 8 - 95/100 rpm

Resistance

  • 2x 15 reps Chest press 30 kg
  • 2x 15 reps Seated row 30 kg
  • 2x 15 reps Hip Abduction 40 kg
  • 3x 10 reps Leg press - feet together 70 kg
  • 3x 10 reps Squats with ball
  • 3x 15 reps Bicep curls 5 kg

Medical ID Alert

By Dutsji | March 15, 2008

Medical ID AlertLately I have been buying health magazines instead of the usual gossip magazines. The more I focus on losing weight and getting more healthy the more I want to know about it. One of the topics in the magazines was ‘In Case of Emergency’ and what you can do to help the medics.

The first and easiest thing you can do is have an I.C.E. (in case of emergency) contact in your mobile phone. That way they know straight away who to contact in case something happens. The other thing that they recommended is an Emergency Medical Alert, also called a Medical ID alert.

If you are unable to speak for yourself the Medical ID alert can help identify medical problems, allergies, prescribed medication, emergency contacts, etc. This can be vital in a life or death situation. It can also help protect you for medical errors when you are admitted to a hospital.

Americanmedical-id.com offers a range of medical ID alert jewelry. You can get a personalized engraved Medical ID alert in many styles; bracelets, necklaces, charms or watches. I think it is a real good idea to wear a Medical ID alert. Even though we always think that accidents don’t happen to us, you never know what will in happen in the future.

8 Week Challenge - Day 40

By Dutsji | March 14, 2008

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!

Another day without a visit to the gym, I am starting to get withdrawals… I had to reschedule the appointment with my personal trainer which really pissed me off.

It looked like I was able to go to the gym in the evening with the car I was going to borrow. When I finally could pick up the car it wouldn’t start. It had a flat battery! And of course no car in sight that could give it a jump start. So, the battery is going on the recharger over night and hopefully tomorrow I can get my exercise fix in the gym.

I was so bummed that I didn’t exercise at home. Sounds logic doesn’t it?
