Exercise 27-01-2008

By Dutsji | January 27, 2008

Today I took it easy on the cardio because I still had to mow our lawn. The grass was long, very long and I had been postponing it for way too long. So just a bit of a warm up and cool down before and after my weight training. Mowing the lawn is always challenging because our house is on a little hill, plus the heat is making it much harder than it should be. Anyway, the lawn looks great for now. Too bad it doesn’t last long.

Cardio

  • 10 min. Cross trainer - Level 2 - 13/14 km/h
  • 10 min. Treadmill - 5.6 km/h
  • 60 min. Lawn mowing

Weight training

  • 3x 15 reps Lat pull down - 15 kg
  • 3x 15 repsĀ  Chest press - 15 kg
  • 3x 15 reps Triceps - 5 kg
  • 3x 15 reps Bicep curl - 4 kg
  • 2x 15 reps Shoulder front raise - 3 kg
  • 2x 15 reps Shoulder lateral raise - 3 kg
  • 3x 20 reps Sit ups on fit ball
  • 3x 20 reps Side crunches

Today I have signed up for the 8 week challenge. The challenge will start at the 4th of February and I am really looking forward to it. Hopefully it will speed up my weight loss.

Today I just did a bit of cardio and afterwards I sat in the sauna for half an hour with a magazine. Nice and relaxing! Hope you all have a good weekend.

Cardio

  • 20 min. Cross trainer - level 2 - 13 km/h
  • 40 min. Bike riding - level 6 - Hill program - 85/95 rpm
  • 10 min. Treadmill - 5.6 km/h

Yes, I lost some weight again!

By Dutsji | January 25, 2008

I am so happy! This morning I jumped on the weighting scale in the gym and I’ve lost some weight! I went from 83.4 kg to 82.2 kg so I lost 1.2 kg. It gave me so much extra energy to do my work out this morning! I jumped on the cross trainer with a big smile on my face.

The last week I’ve really watched what I was eating. I tried to eat small meals 5 or 6 times a day. I tried to include more fruit, vegetables and protein and it seems to pay off. And I’ve managed to not snack on anything at night time, which is a crappy habit of mine.

Next week they start a 8 week challenge at the gym for AUS $199. It includes an appointment with a dietitian who will make an eating plan, 3 nutrition seminars, one personal training session per week and ‘prizes upon completion’. I’m thinking about doing the challenge. Mainly because I’d like to talk to a dietitian anyway about my cholesterol problem and the personal training sessions might help with speeding up my weight loss.

Today I went finally back to the gym after 3 days off. It felt like an eternity! It went pretty good, I can tell that I am improving on the cardio part of my work out. I did however feel a fair bit of strain on my neck today and decided to opt for 2 sets of repetitions with the bicep curls and shoulders raises because of that. I guess it’s time for me to go to the chiropractor again.

Cardio

  • 20 min. cross trainer | level 1 for 15 min. | level 2 for 5 min | 13/14 km/h
  • 20 min. treadmill | 5.6 km/h
  • 30 min. bike riding | level 6 | random program | 85/95 rpm

Weight training

  • 3x 15 reps lat pull down - 15 kg
  • 3x 15 reps chest press - 10 kg
  • 3x 15 reps triceps - 5 kg
  • 2x 15 reps bicep curl - 4 kg
  • 2x 15 reps lateral shoulder raise - 2 kg
  • 2x 15 reps front shoulder raise - 2 kg
  • 3x 15 reps sit ups on fit ball

Fat Burning Foods

By Dutsji | January 24, 2008

fat burning food Recently I was reading an article in a fitness magazine about fat burning foods. Fat burning foods are foods that require more calories to digest than the content of the food itself. The example they gave in the article was an apple. The apple was 80 calories, but your body burns about 125 calories to chew and digest the apple. In other words, by eating fat burning foods you burn more calories than you consume.

Fat burning foods are also called negative calorie foods. By eating negative calorie foods you can actually eat more and lose more weight. Isn’t that a charm? It is mainly the healthy foods that have a negative calorie effect; vegetables and fruit. So no more excuses to avoid them!
