Dietary Seminar 1
So last night I went to the dietary seminar in the gym. We got told straight away that the lecture would only be for maximum half an hour because of a time mix up. We were told it started at 7 pm while in fact it should have started at 6 pm. The dietitian had another appointment and 7.45 pm so it got cut short. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed with that.
The lecture itself was very interesting. In the first 10 minutes it was kind of repeating what’s already been written in our manual. Later on he talked a bit about other stuff and one thing in particular was very interesting. Stress can make you fat!
I won’t go into details because I can’t explain it as well as the dietitian, but basically it has to do with fight-flight response of your body and the release of sugar inĀ your blood that will be stored as fat. If your stress levels are high you have to train in a different way to prevent storing fat. I was really surprised about what he said, but it makes a lot of sense.
He also said talked about diets and why it is important to eat your carbs before and after your work out. It is important that while you are losing weight, that you burn fat and not muscle. By cutting out your carbs completely you will not lose fat, but muscles. The more muscles you have the better, because if you have more muscles you will burn more calories during the day even if you are in rest.
At the end of the half hour people asked some quick questions about the meal plan and that was it. Very short lecture indeed. Can’t wait for the next one!
8 Week Challenge - Day 9
This morning I went to the gym again. I had been thinking about whether or not I should go to boxing class. I absolutely love it, but my middle finger has been sore for a couple of weeks now. I don’t know what’s wrong with it and I don’t know what caused the pain. I feel like I have no strength in it and grabbing the machines for resistance training is starting to get pretty annoying and painful. I wasn’t sure if the boxing class would make the pain worse again or not. I decided to go to the boxing class nevertheless because it is simply such a good work out. I might have to get my finger checked out soon though.
Tonight there is a dietary seminar at the gym. I am going and hopefully I learn some new things that can help me in my weight loss journey. I’ll write more about that when I come back.

- 20 min. Cross trainer - level 3 - 12/13 km/h

8 Week Challenge - Day 8
This morning it was weigh in time. Time to see if the first week of the challenge has brought me any results. And I have to admit that I let out a big sigh of relief when I saw the numbers on the scale: 81.4 kg. That is 1.2 kg off in one week. It’s about time that some weight came off!
It is amazing what some weight loss can do to you. I had much more energy for my coming work out. I started off with the cross trainer, did my weight/resistance program and finished with a bike ride. After that it was taking a well deserved shower and on my way to the chiropractor.
